Project Update

Construction continues at Sam Houston High School. Work crews have excavated the area where the new competition gym will be built and will begin drilling piers this summer. Water lines and gas lines are also being relocated. 

The new gym will include varsity locker rooms that connect to the existing field house, which will become the new location for coaches’ offices and restrooms. The existing main gym has received new LED lights, and the gym floor will be resurfaced. 

The existing secondary gym will be transformed into a new weight room and a dance studio, with a mezzanine dividing the two spaces. Demolition for that part of the campus renovation begins this summer. 

The current varsity locker rooms will be renovated to serve as locker rooms for dance students. 

Also, a portion of the auditorium will be demolished this summer to make way for a new black box theater and ticket booth.
