Jaylin Al-Barati

Jaylin will go to the University of Notre Dame to study engineering.

Why did you choose your postsecondary path?  
Engineering has been a career I have always wanted to study, not only to build a better world but being that I feel it is a job geared towards my strength in STEM. The University of Notre Dame was without doubt the perfect place for me to continue my education, because I fell in love with the faith, the community, the overwhelming support and resources they offer students, and the fact that they have one of the best engineering programs in the country.

 

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?
Attending an SAISD school since I was child, SAISD shaped me into who I am because it allowed me to see everything in a broader picture. I was able to realize from a young age that I may not always have the best opportunities as someone else, but as long as I work harder and better, I can do anything. Throughout my high school career, SAISD has helped build me into the best scholar I can be, and has opened many doors for me that I certainly could not have reached on my own.

Why did you choose your postsecondary path?
Throughout my childhood I was surrounded by a large quantity of animals and I hope to learn about animals enough, where I am able to not only help them out but to also hopefully relieve owners of any concerns.

 

As a leader of the class of 2024, what is your hope for the Class of 2024 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?
As a fellow graduate of the Class of 2024, I know how weird our school life was due to COVID. I also know that a lot of my fellow classmates had difficulty getting back into the school mentality, but all I can say is that no matter how much we all struggled we all made it and are graduating High School and all I wish is for everyone to be happy doing whatever they pursue in their life.
