Looking forward to retirement?  Thank you for being part of the Familia, we’re excited for you!  There are multiple steps in preparing for retirement and we would like to help you in getting started.  Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the next steps outlined below.

RESIGNATION

Employee Resignation Information

Step 1

  • When you decide to resign or retire from San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD), there are a number of steps to take to ensure a smooth transition for you, our students, and our schools.  You will be able to access the separation link by using My Service Center. Step 2

  • In accordance with HOUSE BILL 973, if eligible, complete benefit election by completing Election of Group Health Insurance [Continuation of Benefit Form] to continue medical, dental, and vision insurance with the district.

 

RETIREMENT

Employee that retire under TRS are eligible to participate in the Accumulated Leave Incentive Plan, in accordance with DEC (LOCAL) and the established program guidelines.

Information on Employee Retirement

Step 1 (10-12 months prior to retirement)

  • Visit https://www.trs.texas.gov/ to obtain benefit information from TRS.
  • Complete and Submit “Request for Estimate of Retirement Benefits” [Form TRS-18] to TRS.
  • Meet with TRS Counselor and attend Benefit & Retirement Benefits Education Session and watch TRS Member & Financial Awareness video.

Step 2  (6 months prior to your retirement)

Step 3  (30-60 days prior to retirement)

  • Submit Separation Notification for processing. Leaving SAISD & Employee Exit Checklist
  • Once Separation Notification is received, Total Rewards will complete and submit “Notice of Final Deposit Before Retirement and School Official Certification of Salaries” [FORM TRS-7] to TRS.
