Congratulations to CAST Med Class of 2024!

CAST Med High School
Class of 2024 Valedictorian
Florentino Segovia

Florentino will attend the University of Texas at Austin to study government and political science.

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?
SAISD schools have played a crucial role in shaping me into the person I am today by providing a diverse and inclusive learning environment. The teachers and staff have instilled in me the values of resilience, empathy, and the importance of community involvement.

As a leader of the class of 2024, what is your hope for the Class of 2024 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?
As a leader of the Class of 2024, my hope for my fellow classmates as they move on to the next chapter of their lives is that they continue to pursue their passions with determination and resilience. I hope they find fulfillment and success in their endeavors, while also making positive contributions to their communities and the world around them..

CAST Med High School
Class of 2024 Salutatorian

Gabriella Toscano

Gabriella will attend Trinity university to study biology.

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?
Attending CAST Med High School has had an extremely positive impact on my life. I am so fortunate to have gone to a school where the teachers genuinely care about the students, not only in their educational careers, but also as people. The diversity of the students at my school has also been equally beneficial in the development of my character. I have learned to appreciate the fact that we are all so different, which in turn connects us in more ways than you think. Attending an SAISD school for the past four years has helped me realize how much appreciation I have for this community; I am grateful that I was able to experience this kind of connection while also being taught how to make connections throughout the district.

What is the greatest challenge you have overcome in your education so far and how did you overcome it?
I would say the biggest challenge I have had to overcome during my education would be learning to branch out and break out of my shell. Being a twin, it was challenging for me to talk to other people because I had only ever been comfortable around my sister, and shy around everyone else. This caused me to get nervous while working on group projects and even presenting in front of my classmates. Overcoming this challenge was made easy by my school, where everyone around me was always so welcoming and understanding, while also encouraging me to take risks and step out of my comfort zone.
