Keeping Our Students, Families, and Schools Safe Every Day

The P3 system allows families and students to report any safety concerns anonymously, whether it’s bullying, online threats, or campus safety. Reports are sent to school authorities for quick and effective action. Help us keep our schools safe—if you see something, say something.

School Safety Readiness

Our district takes emergency preparedness seriously. Discover the safety processes and systems we have in place to keep students safe during school events and in any emergency situation.

What is This?

The Safety Readiness Process is a plan that helps keep our students, staff, and visitors safe in case of an emergency. At SAISD, we’ve put together a detailed response plan to make sure everyone knows what to do in a crisis, such as an evacuation or lockdown. This plan includes important steps that families can follow to stay informed and support the safety of their children.

Why This Matters

In any emergency, acting quickly and following the right steps can make all the difference in keeping students safe. Our Safety Readiness Process is designed to handle different types of emergencies, from fire drills to more serious situations. It's important for parents to understand these processes so they know what to expect and how to stay informed.

How Can I Help My Child?

Talk to your child about safety: Make sure your child knows what to do during an emergency at school. Practice staying calm and following instructions.

Stay informed: Keep the IRIS notification system up to date with your contact information so you get alerts right away.

Avoid going to the school during an emergency: While it may be hard, it’s important to let emergency responders do their job. Coming to the school could make it harder for them to respond quickly.

Follow instructions: During an emergency, listen to local news for information on when it’s safe to pick up your child and what steps to take.
  • What should I do if there’s an emergency at my child’s school?
Stay calm and follow the district’s communication channels. Tune in to local radio or TV stations for updates. Please avoid calling the school or going to the campus—this could slow down emergency responders.

What’s the difference between a lockdown, lockout, and evacuation?
Evacuation: Everyone is moved from the school building to a safe location.

Lockdown: The building is secured, and no one is allowed to enter or leave. Students and staff stay inside for safety.

Lockout: The perimeter of the building is secured while normal school activities continue inside.

How will I be notified if there’s an emergency?
SAISD will use the Immediate Response Information System (IRIS) to send alerts and updates. You’ll also be able to get information from local radio and TV stations.
