Keeping Our Students, Families, and Schools Safe Every Day

The P3 system allows families and students to report any safety concerns anonymously, whether it’s bullying, online threats, or campus safety. Reports are sent to school authorities for quick and effective action. Help us keep our schools safe—if you see something, say something.

School Visitor Safety

Keeping our students safe begins at the front door. Learn about how we screen visitors and ensure our campuses stay secure throughout the school day.

What is This?

At SAISD, your child's safety is our top priority. That’s why we use the Safe Visitor System, a background check process that ensures only approved visitors can enter our schools. Every visitor, from parents to volunteers, must go through this system before they can enter the building to help keep students safe.

Watch & Learn

Why This Matters?

The Safe Visitor System helps us keep a secure learning environment by screening everyone who comes onto campus. Whether it's a parent dropping off lunch, a volunteer in the classroom, or a visitor attending an event, everyone must be checked in through this system. This way, we can be sure that every person in the building has been cleared for safety.

How Can I Help My Child?

Follow the check-in process: Always check in at the front office, even if you're just stopping by for a few minutes.

Talk to your child about safety: Help them understand why these systems are important for their safety.

Keep your ID handy: Always bring a valid ID when visiting the school so the check-in process goes smoothly.
  • What happens when I visit my child’s school?
When you arrive, you’ll check in using your ID at the front office. The Safe Visitor System will run a quick background check and print a visitor badge that you must wear while you're in the school.

Why do you need my ID?
The Safe Visitor System scans your ID to check for any concerns, such as criminal records, and ensures the safety of all students and staff.

Do I need to check in every time I visit?
Yes, for the safety of our students, every visitor must check in each time they visit the school.
  • If you have any questions about the Safe Visitor System, or if you want to learn more about the visitor policies at your child's school, here’s how to get in touch:

Your School’s Front Office: Contact the front office staff for details about visitor policies and the check-in process.

SAISD Safety Office: For more information on district-wide safety measures, reach out to the Safety Office.

What is This?

Our district is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff. One crucial aspect of our safety protocols is ensuring that exterior doors remain closed and secure at all times. Leaving doors propped open creates security risks by allowing unauthorized individuals to enter the school. This initiative reminds students, staff, and visitors to always close doors behind them for everyone's safety.

Watch & Learn

Why This Matters

Leaving doors propped open may seem convenient, but it exposes the entire school to potential dangers. Unsecured doors provide easy access to individuals who shouldn’t be on campus, putting students, staff, and visitors at risk. By making sure all doors are securely closed, we can:

  • Prevent unauthorized entry

  • Ensure that safety systems work properly

  • Protect students and staff in any situation, whether it's a regular school day or an emergency

This simple action goes a long way in safeguarding our entire school community.

How Can I Help My Child?

As a parent, you can play a big role in reinforcing the importance of school safety:

Talk to Your Child: Have a conversation about the importance of never propping open doors and reporting any that are left open to a teacher or staff member.

Teach Responsibility: Encourage your child to be mindful when entering or leaving school, ensuring doors are fully closed behind them.

Set a Good Example: When visiting the school, follow the safety procedures yourself by always closing doors properly and checking in at the front office.
  • What should I do if I see a door propped open?
If you notice a door propped open, close it immediately and notify a staff member or the front office. Reporting helps keep everyone safe.

Why are certain doors sometimes locked during school hours?
Locking exterior doors helps control who enters the building, ensuring that only authorized visitors, students, and staff can access the school.

Can teachers or staff leave doors open if they are nearby?
No, even if someone is close to the door, leaving it open can still pose a risk. All exterior doors should remain closed and secured at all times.
  • If you have concerns about school safety or notice issues with doors being left open, reach out to your school’s front office or contact the SAISD Safety Office for assistance.
