Dear SAISD Familia:
Today, we were pleased to welcome our students and staff back into our classrooms.
Over the past few days and throughout the weekend, our unwavering focus has been on guaranteeing the appropriate temperatures in our school buildings. As of Sunday, our plans were in place for campuses to have adequate, climate-controlled learning spaces. This morning, we were in the position to open all of our campuses. Unfortunately, two campuses were affected by a transformer issue resulting from this morning’s storms. CPS first had to address the transformer before power could be restored, so these campuses will open tomorrow.
I visited many of our campuses throughout the day, and I witnessed the heartfelt welcome our students received from campus staff. I felt so much pride in our schools.
I want to personally thank each of you for your patience and understanding while we addressed last week’s heating system failure. There were so many heroes that emerged who worked around the clock – from our custodians to our nutrition workers, from our principals to our district staff, and from our technicians to the many others who offered their assistance. We are immensely grateful to these organizations who collaborated with us: North East ISD, Lackland ISD, Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD, Alamo Heights ISD, TDIndustries, Brandt, M-Tech, Gillette, Columbia Contracting, Maximum AC, and Mueller & Wilson.
The heart of our SAISD familia beats stronger every day.
In service,
Jaime
