National Board Certified Teachers
National Board certification is the most recognized and highest professional credential in the teaching field. A National Board Certified Teacher has gone through professional growth and improvement to achieve excellence in teaching practice. SAISD currently has 3 cohorts and is committed to the continuation of supporting educators along their journey to National Board Certification.
What is the National Board Certification Program?
The National Board Certification program is a two-year commitment with courses and assignments designed to promote in-depth self-reflection and study practice. Courses and assignments are centered around the National Board’s 4 components of the successful classroom which includes the following:
- Content Knowledge
- Differentiation in Instruction
- Teaching Practice and Learning Environments
- Effective and Reflective Practitioner
National Board Certification was designed to develop, retain, and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. Created by teachers, for teachers, the National Board Standards represent a consensus among educators about what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.
SAISD is committed to supporting teachers on their journey to become National Board Certified. Our two-year cohort program is designed to support teachers by providing mentorship, peer support, resources, professional development, and funding for course component fees! In addition, Teachers who become Nationally Board Certified will automatically earn a Recognized designation level assigned under the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA).
