The Texas K-12 STEM Education Framework offers  guidelines on constructing effective STEM plans using state-level objectives, identified strategies for success, a STEM implementation model, research-based methods of instruction, and high-quality STEM indicators. This framework has been adapted with specific examples of what STEM implementation could look like in SAISD schools, incorporating the new Technology Applications TEKS that emphasize critical thinking, digital literacy, and responsible use of technology.

The Office of Educational Technology will work to support campuses at all levels of STEM progression, ensuring that educators and students are equipped to thrive in a technology-driven educational landscape.

Extracurricular STEM/STEAM activities have a high potential to positively impact learning and career choices for children. We encourage campuses to schedule STEM/STEAM activities during the school day and consider hosting events for students, parents, and community members. Additionally, establishing after-school clubs and summer camps can provide further opportunities for engagement and exploration in these fields.

Robotics and coding teams and clubs can be sponsored by teachers, parents, or volunteers, allowing students to pursue these interests individually or collaboratively.
