Nov. 13, 2023 – Unilever, H-E-B, and the SAISD Foundation are celebrating Texas Recycles Day with an award ceremony to name the winning San Antonio elementary schools who participated in this fall’s recycling contest. This will be the second year of this initiative. There will also be a ribbon-cutting event at the new outdoor recreation area at San Antonio ISD’s Cotton Academy, which will feature play and sports areas made with recyclable materials.

WHAT:
Supported by an in-store fundraising campaign and a donation from both Unilever and H-E-B, the SAISD Foundation awarded local elementary schools with grants up to $10,000 for needed projects as recognition for their students’ recycling efforts this past fall. This is the second year of this initiative. During Wednesday’s celebration, Unilever, H-E-B, SAISD Foundation and San Antonio ISD held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the beautification of SAISD’s Agnes Cotton Academy outdoor recreation area. The event gathered company leaders, elected officials, and leaders and representatives from SAISD and SAISD Foundation.
