SAISD SPOTLIGHT: Danika Maddox, Fox Tech High School junior, can speak to the power of the education and mentorship.
Danika Maddox understands the power of career and technical education. She’s been to Nationals with the Skills USA organization, twice, and in June, she and her teammates won third in the nation at the Career Pathways-Human Services Competition. The 11th grader at Fox Tech High School is the state reporter for the Texas Skills USA organization, in charge of sharing information about the workforce development organization for students. As her part of her position as state officer, she and advisor Jennifer Casanova will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in September for the Washington Leadership Training Institute, where they will be meeting with legislators to advocate for the importance of career and technological education in our classrooms. Maddox looks forward to following her grandparents’ careers in law fueled by the education and mentorship she has received at the Fox Tech Health and Law Campus.

The Pride of the West side is set to celebrate the students of Lanier High School at the annual “Meet the Voks” event. The community is invited to join the fun in the Lanier HS cafeteria to kick off the 2024-25 school year by highlighting the school’s teams, clubs, organizations and career paths. Food and snacks will be available.

The community is invited to learn about the facilities repurposing process, an approximate timeline, and how individuals and organizations can participate in the future. Sam Houston High School families get a double dose of campus engagement with a pair of events. “Meet the Teachers” gives educators and parents a time to establish a relationship. “Meet the Hurricanes” puts the students participating in athletics, band, JROTC and other organizations front and center to kick off the fall semester.
