Sept 7 (Sat) – Longfellow Middle School LOTC 9/11 Patriot Day Commemoration
8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 9/11 Memorial, 6610 W. US Hwy 90, 78236
The Longfellow Middle School LOTC will spend their Saturday on a field trip to the 9/11 Memorial. Instructors want to reinforce the impact of the day to students. The group will be visiting the memorial, reading the timeline and reviewing the events of that tragic day. Students will also hear about one SAISD student whose father was a casualty at the Pentagon.
 
Sept 9 (Mon) – Wilson Elementary Grandparents Day
8 a.m. to 9 a.m., Wilson Elementary, 1421 Clower St., 78201
Wilson Elementary invites families to campus for a fun Grandparents Day event to honor the special bond between grandparents and their grandchildren. Students and grandparents will enjoy snacks while working together to create a keepsake frame to save precious memories.
 
Sept 9 (Mon) – Highland Hills Elementary Grandparents Day
9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Highland Hills Elementary, 734 Glamis Ave., 78223
Highland Hills will be hosting Grandparents Day in two sessions. Pre K-2nd grade grandparents are invited to come at 9 a.m., while 3rd-5th grade grandparents are invited to come at 1 p.m. The campus is eager to celebrate as a blended familia with grandparents from Highland Park, Forbes and Foster elementaries.
