Green Elementary at Riverside Park proudly stands with 30 other schools in Texas and just over 300 in the nation as one of the nation's newest National Blue Ribbon School honorees. National Blue Ribbon schools showcase effective teaching methods and offer robust professional development for their staff. Data-driven instruction is a hallmark, and there is a concerted effort to ensure every student succeeds. Collaboration among families, communities, and educators is a key component of their success.

Sept 28 (Sat) – SAISD “Reading is my Superpower” Literacy Event
9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive, 78210
Consider this event something akin to Comic Con, but for elementary students. Families are invited to the mega “Reading is my Superpower” literacy event at Brackenridge High School. Not only will students be able to dress up for some Cosplay fun, they also will be given FREE books along with participating in “make and take home” activities. For parents, reading strategies will be offered for Pre-K and Kindergarten kids.
 
Sept 28 (Sat) – Gardopia Gardens Kickoff at Pershing Elementary

Gardopia Gardens is excited to announce the launch of a new Jumpstart program in collaboration with its partner, national nonprofit Big Green. This grant will install gardens at 13 schools across SAISD and provide $2,000 in funding for five additional schools to enhance their existing gardening efforts.
 
Oct 1 (Tues) – SAISD National Night Out and Band Showcase
4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta Drive, 78212
The SAISD Family and Community Engagement and Fine Arts departments are teaming up for a big night of familia and music. Two events combine into one at the SAISD National Night Out and Band Showcase. First, a community resource fair will take place between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to provide information and services to our families. That will be followed up by an evening of award winning band performances. The SAISD marching bands will all perform their UIL programs in a special sneak preview.
