Alumni Spotlight: Pablo Gives Day - Building Brighter Futures Together
10/21/2024
Oct. 18, 2024 - Wall Street is a long way from the West Side of San Antonio, metaphorically and geographically. But SAISD alumni Pablo Rodriguez made the journey and wants to help the students of San Antonio realize that they can as well. Be it to Wall Street or Main Street.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., the SAISD Foundation will host 2024 Inspire Awards Honoree and Chief Communications Officer of Chase, Pablo Rodriguez during “Pablo Gives Day.” Pablo will return to the Westside of San Antonio, where he grew up, to visit his elementary, middle school, and high school alma mater campuses to engage personally with students: De Zavala, Tafolla, and Lanier, respectively.

To inspire another generation of learners, Chase will honor Pablo by donating 15 laptops and more than $5,000 worth of books to the SAISD Foundation. Pablo Gives Day kicks off at De Zavala Elementary, where Chase will host a celebration of reading with kindergarten and first-grade classes. After talking with fifth graders about career pathways, Pablo and volunteers will join the SAISD Foundation’s Book Buddies Bus to read with students and hand out books to take home. Many of the books will be in Spanish, as a tribute to Pablo being an English as a second language student himself.

“We all have people and communities that have invested in us to make us who we are today,” said Rodriguez. “I’m humbled to return to the San Antonio community that invested in me and gave me the path to become what I am today. Today wouldn’t be possible without amazing San Antonio-based, Chase employee volunteers who diligently make San Antonio a stronger community every day. Together, we are creating opportunities that will empower the next generation of talented San Antonio leaders.”

The day will also feature the unveiling of the SAISD Foundation’s STEM Bus, the first mobile STEM classroom for students in the district. This high-tech bus will travel to all SAISD campuses offering programs in eSports, cyber security, and AR/VR technology. At Tafolla Middle School, Pablo will introduce students to AR/VR demonstrations using advanced Robust Transfr software, allowing them to explore various careers in a realistic way.

Pablo’s final stop for the day will be back at his alma mater, Lanier High School, where he will meet with current students to share his journey from Lanier to Texas A&M and then launching his career in communications.
