SAISD SPOTLIGHT: One of the first districts to participate in the state’s Teacher Incentive Allotment program, SAISD is unique in offering multiple pathways to teachers in STAAR-tested courses, special education, and elective courses – reaching 98% of teachers
SAISD’s educator cohort designated under the Teacher Incentive Allotment continues to grow –
197 new teachers are now earning the state stipends ranging from $3,000 to $26,000. The district has had 730 educators approved by the Texas Education Agency since its participation in the program began.
SAISD was one of the first districts to begin recommending its teachers for this state allotment, and the continual participation has made the district’s program robust. It provides an opportunity for more than 98% of the district’s teachers to have a pathway to potential designation. That is unique to SAISD and not something offered in other districts in the area.
What makes the program stand out from peer districts is the inclusion of teachers in content areas beyond STAAR-tested courses. There are provide multiple pathways for SAISD teachers to earn these state designations, and therefore the monetary stipends. Whether an educator teaches in a STAAR-tested content area, or special education, or an elective such as Fine Arts, they may still be eligible.
