What: SAISD students and staff to receive free COVID testing on Saturday, March 20; Free testing allows a confident and safe return when classes resume Tuesday, March 23

San Antonio ISD, through its collaboration with Community Labs, is making free COVID testing available to all SAISD students and employees on Saturday, March 20. 

Students and campus staff are returning to schools after two weeks, following spring break and an additional intercession week, on Tuesday, March 23. 

This is the second time that Community Labs, who already provides weekly testing at all of SAISD schools, has opened the opportunity of free COVID testing to SAISD students and employees on a Saturday. The previous occurrence followed February’s winter weather event, which closed campuses for a week.

Community Labs identifies asymptomatic silent spreaders of COVID-19 by providing 24-hour test results, scale, accuracy, and a less invasive, self-administered test that swabs the front of the nostril. With this assurance testing strategy, schools and businesses can create COVID-19 Safety Zones and a pathway for schools to reopen, people to return to work, and communities to recover.
